Fully inflated and utterly unbothered, Puff Puff and Away captures a puffer fish at peak puff, every spine on end, every fin fanned out, floating through the page with the goofy confidence of a creature who knows he's untouchable. Printed in light blue on soft cream paper, this original hand-carved linocut turns a spiky little ocean dweller into a bold, graphic icon of pure personality.
The fish is rendered in dense, spine-covered mass, its whole body a field of hand-cut V-shaped marks that ripple outward like a thousand tiny darts. Delicate white linework carves out the ringed, wide-eyed stare and the small pursed mouth, giving him an expression somewhere between surprised and smug. His fins fan out in crisp, feathered strokes at nose, back, belly, and tail, each one carved with the same hand-cut texture that makes the whole print feel alive and slightly electric, like static caught mid-puff.
The artist's monogram block stamp, printed in warm gold in the lower left, grounds the piece and marks it as an original, hand-pulled print , a nice color echo against all that blue.
A playful, graphic piece for lovers of puffer fish, ocean weirdos, and anyone who appreciates a creature that turns "I am afraid" into a full-body art form.
