Printed in vivid vermillion ink on shimmering pearl paper, Be My Gladbeetle is a spirited relief print that turns the humble beetle into a love token. Two heart-shaped lobes stack to form the creature's body, their carved interiors alive with looping, ribbon-like voids that catch the light like stained glass. Radiating outward from each segment, a fringe of petal-shaped legs and antennae fan into the surrounding cream, giving the whole figure the buoyant symmetry of a paper valentine crossed with an insect specimen.

The handmade quality of the work is part of its charm: the crisp bite of the carved line and the soft variegation in ink coverage lend the print a warmth and vibrancy no digital reproduction could replicate.
